The building services are served from the Queen Elizabeth, Olympic Park District Energy scheme which plays a key role in London’s climate change strategy and in meeting the Mayor of London’s vision for sustainable development.
The ArcelorMittal Orbit (often referred to as the Orbit Tower or its original name, Orbit) is a 114.5-metre (376-foot) sculpture and observation tower in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London.
It is Britain's largest piece of public art, and is provides a permanent lasting legacy of London's hosting of the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, assisting in the post-Olympics regeneration of the Stratford area. Sited between the London Stadium and the Aquatics Centre, it allows visitors to view the whole Olympic Park from two observation platforms.
This development is connected to the much larger district heating network, supplying the entire Olympic park, this network aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 60% before 2025. The resulting EPC produced was a near Net Zero EPC rating of A.
Mechanical services are provided from a sub-energy centre at ground level and rise through the centre of the tower structure to serve the roof plant and observation platforms
